The Jordan Village Merchants Association (JVMA) wants local residents to learn about what is available in their own backyards.

From August 15-31, the JVMA is running the "Getting to Know You Passport Tour" for the second year. The tour encourages visitors to Jordan Village to visit 23 merchants and to have their passport stamped to earn the chance to win up to $150 in "Jordan Bucks".

Kelly Nemeth, vice-chair of the JVMA, says it's a great opportunity for local residents to see what Jordan Village has to offer.

"We want our neighbours to come out and meet the merchants of Jordan Valley and experience what we have to offer here," said Nemeth.

Merchants participating in this year's passport tour range from eating establishments to cultural institutions to shops. No purchase is necessary to have your passport stamped.

The passports, once completed, must be dropped into the ballot box at Toute Sweet Ice Cream, 3771 19th St., by August 31. Visitors must have received a stamp from every participating member to be eligible to win. A draw will be held on the Toute Sweet patio on September 1 at 10 a.m. The grand prize is $150 Jordan Bucks, with $75 for second prize. They are valid at JVMA shops.

The passports are available in a variety of ways. They can be picked up in the shops or they can also be clipped out of the August 13 edition of The Grimsby Lincoln News or August 15 edition of Niagara this Week.
