Angela Siracusa spends five months out of the year living in Nashville, Tenn. But when she makes her way back to Fonthill, she feels the most at home.
"I moved back in April of last year," said Siracusa. "My husband (Thomas Roesslein) has always lived here."
In fact, Siracusa did what she does best at the Peace Park bandshell last week, performing for a crowd of all ages and inviting three young neighbours up to sing with her.
Siracusa said she was approached to do the show after someone read about her 2008 Niagara Music Award nomination for country group of the year.
Aside from recording, which she does a lot of both in Nashville and in Niagara, Siracusa also has a passion for cooking and is in the process of pitching a new cooking show, "Angela feeds the band," in which she interviews stars and demonstrates how to cook meals on the road. She has approached Food Network and other outlets with the idea.
"I'm a cook, not a chef," said Siracusa, referring to the fact that she has no culinary education, just a love for good, healthy food.
She's already taped a couple of episodes featuring Alanna Myles and Walter Egan.
Siracusa said the show will bring together her two favourite things: music and food. After she interviews her guests and cooks for them, she will perform for them, or in some cases with them. She has some Angela Feeds the Band episodes posted on YouTube (www.youtube.com/angelafeedstheband).
"When you cook together and sing together it gives you the comforts of home," said Siracusa.
But she said the most important thing is constantly representing yourself. She hopes that if the cooking show takes off that she will be able to offer viewers her own cookbooks and aprons.
"The difference between my show and others out there is that I'm really trying to focus on the road," said Siracusa. "There is no studio, just a travelling cook looking for the next greatest band."
Siracusa will perform at the Fort Erie Casino with Walter Ostanek on September 6 and at the Chili Festival in Niagara-on-the-Lake on Sept. 13.
Her first music video, Better Man Have Tried, which was filmed across Niagara including at the Welland Airport can be viewed at www.angelasiracusa.com
