Adverse results from water tests in Grimsby, have led to a boil water advisory for a large chunk of the Grimsby.
The adivsory was issued Sunday and has been implemented as a precautionary
measure pending further lab testing results, to ensure the safety of
the water supply in the area. Niagara Region’s Public Works and Public
Health Departments, as well as the Ministry of the Environment and the
Ministry of Health are assisting the town in efforts to resolve this
issue as quickly as possible.
The advisory is restricted to all
properties in an area in Grimsby bounded by the QEW to the south, Lake
Ontario to the north, Murray St. to the west and Nelles Rd. North to
the east.
Residents are being advised to bring their water to a
boil and then boil it for one full minute (a rolling boil) before using
it (or bottled water can be used). This includes water used to drink,
to clean fruit or vegetables, to make ice, juice, puddings, to brush
teeth or any activity involving children where they may have the
opportunity to drink or swallow the water, including bathing.
Town
of Grimsby staff are going door-to-door in the affected community area
to contact residents, landlords and tenants with respect to the
advisory.
As well, residents may call the Town of Grimsby at
905-309-2058 or the Niagara Region Public Health Department at
