Novices split in Niagara region BCRHC rep

The Burlington City Rep Hockey Club’s Coral Gables Homes Eagles won their first game of the season in Welland last week, beating the Tigers 4-3.

Luke Robinson, Sean Woodcroft, Thomas McDonald and Curtis Emery scored the Eagles goals and Robinson added two assists as well.

The Eagles didn’t fare so well in Niagara Falls, losing 4-3. Zach Thompson, Connor Hall and Woodcroft scored the Eagle goals.

Bantam A

The Burlington Cougar Shoes Eagles reached the championship game of the Avalanche Thanksgiving tournament at York University.

In the final, the Eagles held the Russel River Rats scoreless through two periods but eventually fell 3-0. Burlington goalie Kevin Holman earned the game MVP award for the Eagles with his stellar play.

The Eagles opened the tournament with a 4-1 over the host King City Avalanche, with goals from Tyler Robertson, Jeremy Clyne, Kyle Perry and Nick Sabatino.

In Game 2, Burlington blanked Parkwood Stars 3-0 with Alistair Boulby recording the shutout and Curtis Fraser, Sabatino and Chris Sora scoring the goals.

In Game 3, goals went to Kyle Moore, Perry and Thomas Gilchrist in a 3-1 win over Newmarket.

The Eagles wrapped up the round robin with a 2-0 loss to the eventual champion Russel River Rats.

Gilchrist scored three goals to lead Burlington to a 5-1 win over Newmarket in the semifinals. Sora and Sabatino also scored.

Tyke AA

A late goal by Brampton dealt the Burlington Dynamic Auto Eagles a 6-5 loss last Monday in Burlington.

Logan Kurki scored two goals and Noah Wittig, James Theodoropoulos and Emma Tomas added singles for Burlington, which is 2-3-1 in regular-season play.

The Eagles opened the season with a 6-2 win in Georgetown as Theodoropoulos scored three goals.

Austin Strom and Rory Harris shared a shutout in Burlington’s 3- 0 win in Guelph.

In the Eagles’ home opener, Burlington dropped a 4-1 decision to Milton.

Owen Kruse and Kurki scored for the Eagles in a 2-2 tie against Caledon Hawks.

Ancaster’s rink proved to be unfriendly as the Eagles dropped a 2-0 decision to the Avalanche.
