Nov 26, 2008
A 46-year-old woman is facing numerous drug-related charges, following the dismantling of two residential grow ops in Lincoln last week.

On Thursday, Nov. 20, members of the Niagara Regional Police's Guns, Gangs and Grow Unit concluded a lengthy investigation with the execution of two search warrants in the Town of Lincoln.

The first warrant was executed at 4976 Green Lane Rd., where a large indoor marijuana grow operation was set up throughout the residence. In total 746 plants at various stages of growth were seized, with an estimated street value of $746,000.

The second warrant was executed at 3933 Aberdeen Rd., where 728 marijuana plants were seized, with an estimated street value of $728,000. Grow equipment seized from both residences was valued at $63,000.

Police also discovered that the hydro being used to power the marijuana grows at both homes had been diverted around the meters. Both residences were being utilized solely for the purpose of growing marijuana, say police.

The accused was arrested and charged with two counts of producing a controlled substance, two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, and two counts of theft of hydro.

At the time of her arrest, police say the accused was found to be in possession of about 24 pounds of dried marijuana in the trunk of her vehicle. She was subsequently charged with an additional count of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking.

The accused was arrested and taken to 1 District in St. Catharines, where she was held pending a bail hearing.
