Horizon Milling announced late Wednesday it is closing its Port Colborne facility on Oct. 30.
"In our early discussions with the union in 2006, the business model we presented was our best plan to ensure the Port Colborne facility's stability and growth. Since that time the economic landscape has changed considerably, and recent business conditions have eroded the model we were hoping could keep this facility viable to the benefit of all stakeholders," John Holliday, vice president and general manager of Horizon Milling G.P., said in a media release.
"We are working closely with employees to provide transition support."
Fifty-two members of UFCW Local 416P have been locked out of the plant since April 24, 2007.
