The Foundation of Resources for Teens (FORT) is on the search for new volunteer board members.
The FORT is currently seeking local residents who have an interest in assisting youth and teens, and an interest in giving back to the community. Board appointments are three-year terms starting in September.
Angela Fazio, program co-ordinator for The FORT, says the board members are integral to the operations. All volunteer resources, she said, are important to the non-profit organization.
"Our board offers so much support and direction," she said. "We're hoping to get some more people to help out."
The FORT, located next to the library in the lower level of the Carnegie Building, serves as a resource centre for youth throughout Niagara West. It offers a variety of activities at no cost to youth between the ages of 13 to 19.
Volunteers from all backgrounds are welcome to apply for the board. Expertise in fundraising and program development are an asset.
The board, said Fazio, meets monthly -- the last Tuesday of the month. In addition, there is another meeting every month for subcommittees including programming and fundraising. The FORT, she said, is always looking for fresh ideas for both fundraising and programming initiatives.
Anyone wishing for further information, or wishing to apply, can contact The FORT by calling 905-309-FORT or by e-mailing a resume to thefort@cogeco.net.
