A young girl taken to hospital in critical condition after a near-drowning at a north Pelham horse farm Tuesday has pulled through, according to police.
Although not confirmed by police, the girl, 8, had to be rescued from a pool at Camberwell Equestrian Centre on Wessel Drive in the afternoon by people nearby. She was taken to Welland hospital, before being transported to McMaster Hospital in Hamilton for treatment of water in the lungs.
A business manager at Camberwell said the company would not be releasing additional information on the incident. The Niagara Regional Police also said they would not release the name of the girl and also are not confirming the incident took place at Camberwell, rather issuing this statement:
"Whenever there's a situation with kids in pools, there should always be adults present and lifeguards, preferably," said Const. Celine Whiteley.
