It's a little early for Christmas but the local Biker's Rights chapter is planning to deliver Christmas cheer to a Port Colborne family in July.
The local non-profit group is hoping a poker run on May 24 will help them feed a family in need, or two, or three.
"We're aiming for $600," said Sharon Audit, club member. "If we exceed that goal we're planning on feeding another family."
BRO has been in contact with Port Cares to locate a family that would benefit from the fundraising activities. The club is aiming at filling a family's fridge and pantry with about $500 worth of goods.
In December the group delivered toys and food to a Port Colborne family. The funds were collected through weekly 50/50 draws. It was the first such event for the club.
Now with July fast approaching the club plans to do the same, only without the toys. In order to raise funds for "Christmas in July" the club has organized a poker run for May 24.
The day starts out at The Montrose, 8675 Montrose Rd., Niagara Falls and ends at Parker's Pier, 247 Welland St., Port Colborne. Registration takes place between 10 a.m. and noon at The Montrose. Cost is $10 per rider and $5 per passenger.
The event ends with music by Hog Wild, a London, Ont. based band.
There will be a 50/50 draw and raffles. All are welcome to attend the event.
