Despite weather that may not have been ideal for some visitors at the Port Colborne Lions Carnival, carnival chair Larry Czinege said the event was a success overall.

"Thursday and Friday were really good," said Czinege. "(Saturday) we still did not bad."

The carnival, which kicked off on July 17 and ended on Monday, held nightly cash draws, as well as prizes donated from local businesses. There was also a raffle for a Ford Mustang donated by Farr Ford or a Ford F150, the winner of which will be drawn on Aug. 4, the last day of Canal Days.

"We had tents set up for people to stand under if the weather got really bad," said Czinege.

But Czinege said that despite a possible lower turnout than Thursday and Friday, the Lions still sold a lot of food and their specialty, Lions doughnuts on the Saturday and Sunday of the carnival.

All the winners of the draws, including the winner of the Ford Mustang, will be posted on the Port Colborne Lions website, www.pclions.com.
