Port Colborne
Jul 25, 2008
Two Port Colborne teens remain in hospital following a single vehicle crash Sunday.

At 2:09 a.m. Sunday, July 20, members of Niagara Regional Police and Niagara Emergency Medical Services responded to reports of a single motor vehicle collision on Lakeshore Road at Oakridge Crescent in Port Colborne.

Investigation revealed a brown 2002 Buick LeSabre was travelling eastbound on Lakeshore Road when the driver lost control of the vehicle, crossed the centre lane and left the roadway striking a tree.

There were five people in the car including the driver. The driver, an 18-year-old Port Colborne man, and front passenger, a 15-year-old Port Colborne female, sustained serious injuries. Both were transported by ambulance to Welland County Hospital.

The driver was transferred to St. Joseph's Health Centre where he remains in critical condition. The female was transferred to McMaster University Medical Centre with serious injuries.

The three other passengers were released from hospital with minor injuries the same day.

The collision remains under investigation by members of No. 6 district as well as the collision reconstruction unit.
