Postcards show off city's history
Thorold
Jul 18, 2008
A little piece of Thorold's history can now be used to say hello.

Thorold's Local Architectural Conservation Advisory Committee (LACAC) has just released a series of postcards featuring paintings of Thorold's historical landmarks.

The four postcards feature the Welland Mills, the Calcott-Walker House, the Kennedy-Ward House and Maplehurst Mansion, now known as Keefer Mansion Inn.

"We are proud of these historic buildings in our city," said Pamela Minns, LACAC secretary.

She presented the postcards, drawn by Niagara Falls artist Jim Kerr, during a recent council meeting.

Minns said the sale of the postcards will help with heritage conservation within the city.

"(The postcards) are a good representation of our proud heritage," said Minns.

She told council that other items such as posters and calendars could feature the drawings in the future.

The postcards can be purchased for $1 at the Lock 7 Tourist Information Centre .
