Honour firefighters this weekend

The monument is ready, the sod has been turned and the ceremony is set to begin.

Thorold Protection Hose Company Alumni Association will hold a dedication ceremony to celebrate a new memorial plot in Lakeview Cemetery.

The monument is a spot of reflection for all the firefighters that have served in the City of Thorold throughout the years.

A sod-turning ceremony was held in April to announce the construction of the new plot, which replaced an existing fire hydrant monument that was dedicated in the early 1960s.

A new monument, boasting a flagpole, landscaping and a bench for quiet reflection will be celebrated Sunday, July 27, during a ceremony at Lakeview Cemetery. The ceremony begins a 1 p.m.
