Wainfleet
Sep 26, 2008
Township hall, Wilford Road and a municipal parking lot will benefit from more than $300,000 in funding from the provincial government.

The province recently announced $1.1 billion in infrastructure funds to be distributed to municipalities on a per capita basis. The funds are a result of a budget surplus.

Council agreed to spend the funds on a $175,000 expansion to the municipal office which will include constructing new offices and a meeting room on the second floor of township hall.

Wilford Road will also be reconstructed with a portion of the funds. Wainfleet will spend $100,000 on the project which includes cold mix, ditching, culvert replacement and surface treatment.

The municipal parking lot will also be improved with the remaining $41,774 of the funds. The lot will be patched and repaired in various parts of Sugarloaf Street and the staff parking area, as well the parking lot between Public Works and Wainfleet Firefighters Memorial Hall.
