Please don't dump garbage at Grimsby Benevolent Fund
Letters
Oct 01, 2008
I am a GBF (Grimsby Benevolent Fund) volunteer; I willingly donate my time and back. However, this evening, as I sit here with my sore back, shoulder and neck, I am rethinking my position. I am frustrated and appalled by the continued lack of consideration and behaviour of some people.

Despite the many articles in this paper regarding the GBF's No Dumping policy, we continue to experience a ridiculous amount of furniture, clothing and landfill items left outside the doors during the night. And today I found myself wondering how you thought I was going to get the sofa bed off the top of the dresser and into the warehouse by myself?? Besides the fact that your items are exposed to the elements, have you considered the fact that a large majority of our volunteers are older? Believe me when I tell you that I am very grateful for your saleable donations. Your support of this organization in its efforts to assist others in our community is appreciated. But I believe that some courtesy could be extended.

Please stop to consider the time, effort, physical labour and monetary costs that are required to sort through the items piled up outside the doors. I know that as a volunteer I would gratefully appreciate your cooperation. Or perhaps your time??

P.S.

To the person who had their child ride the scooter out of sight to load in their vehicle - unpaid for - the GBF is a charitable organization and as such, if $4 was not affordable at this time, we would have been more than happy to gift it to you.

P.S.S.

And to the friends, customers and fellow volunteers who stop by and lend a hand, a huge thank you!

Sincerely,

Carin Marucci

GBF Volunteer
