To all of Grimsby!
Having read the article ("Town Steps Up to Support Stab Victim", Oct. 1st, 2008) an overwhelming urge to share an experience which displayed further care and concern by our community seemed appropriate.
Before I begin, let me say, as a frequent customer of Apple Tree Variety, coming to know the owners, Amir and Paula quite well, has been such a pleasure! They are both hard working, considerate, and kind people.
Personal, friendly service to their customers is first and foremost. For them to experience such a disgraceful, brutal attack on Paula's Father, Leopoldino, certainly, to say the least, should cause each of us to reflect on what Grimsby is all about!
Thanks to Kathryn Curran, for availing to us all, an opportunity to show through donations to the established TD Canada Trust account that the people of Grimsby do look after each other and theirs!
Another expression of the warmth this town exudes is demonstrated in its much needed support of McNally House.
As a volunteer since its inception, I was privileged to be included in Friday's October 3rd first annual fund raising golf tournament at Peninsula Lakes Golf and Country Club for the benefit of McNally House which depends solely on community and private funding.
Witnessing the eager participation of golfers from our community and beyond was ABSOLUTELY heartwarming! Though it was a cold and blustery day, the spirit of all who contributed and attended was not hampered. Encouragement, enthusiasm, and appreciation was expressed by all!
Living in our wonderful town of Grimsby and having opportunities to observe and participate along with others, makes me extremely proud and grateful.
Kudos to the golf committee, board members, and Pam, our newly appointed Executive Director for McNally House, for their time and dedication to this effort. What a wonderfully successful and enjoyable day it was.
