Reader: Evolution not a fact

I would like to respond to Tony Brown's letter regarding " Evolution is an explanation of observed facts."

Though science may claim that 'The Theory of Evolution' is an explanation of observable facts, this is an incorrect assumption.

Most scientists begin any study with a preconceived idea that Evolution is fact. As Tony has pointed out, there are things such as adaptation, which allows a species to change characteristics according to its environment. However it is a predetermined set of instructions that gives it the ability to adapt to the environment. The Pepper Moth theory is a good example to examine. This theory was refuted on many levels for instance, Pepper moths do not rest on tree trunks, but rather high in the trees under the leaves, where the coverage from predators is much better. To do the study, the moths were released in the day, but they are night fliers and would have been disoriented in the day causing them to land on tree trunks initially. As well the moth already existed in both light and dark colours, so the evolutionary changes did not take place. This is just one of the many flaws in the study, but this was submitted as real evidence and taught for many years. The point being, this is not observed evolution.

Mr. Brown also suggests that we have many animal varieties through human intervention and I agree, however there is no cross breeding that has ever taken place such as a dog and a cat or any other cross species.

Random mutation is another way that science claims we have evolved, but when a mutation occurs, it is a mistake and information is destroyed, producing a less desirable outcome, defects rather than improvements. This does not allow for change in species from monkey to man.

This brings up the other fallacies that science has heaped upon us. The supposed missing links such as Lucy and Neanderthal man, Java man, Piltdown man, etc, etc, have all been discredited as either an elaborate hoax or have fabricated entire communities based on a tooth for instance that was later found to have come from a pig.

These were all 'facts' at one time until proven otherwise. Creationists also view things with a bias and are often less objective than they would admit.

The reason many have gone to great lengths to either support or oppose evolution is really to answer one basic question. Why am I here? Is it a random chance occurrence or was I created by a God who loves me?

If I was created, then I need to answer to a higher authority.
