The Beamsville Lions 19th Annual Fall Food Drive, in support of Community Care of West Niagara, has again been an outstanding success. Eighteen tonnes of food were collected, sorted, boxed and placed into safe storage at Community Care, Saturday, the 27th of September.
This much needed annual event could not have been accomplished without the help of a great number of organizations and volunteers who graciously gave of their time, equipment and effort so that the less fortunate of Lincoln will be able to access these collected food items throughout the coming year. Some 250 plus individuals registered at this event.
The following organizations/groups, volunteers, etc., are acknowledged for their support and services as follows: the four area fire stations of the Lincoln Fire and Rescue department, Niagara Regional Police, All Cover Portable Systems, TAVA Systems, the Vineland Mennonite Brethren Church, The Grimsby Lincoln News, West Niagara News, Action Print, Lincoln Rotary Club, Knights of Columbus, the local Scouts and their leaders, West Lincoln 1626 Army Cadet Crops, Konkle Plumbing and Heating, Relay Weigh Station, Beamsville Lioness Club, area churches and schools, Community Care of West Niagara staff and volunteers, as well as a number of individuals who just wanted to be involved in this worthwhile event. If I have forgotten to mention any organizations or person(s) in the above list, please accept my apology as they were not left out intentionally.
In addition to the above, there are the local stores who support the Food Drive through their special grocery packs and their involvement as food drop of sites: No Frills, Foodland, Sobey's, Giant Tiger and Campden General Store.
Further, thanks to the Region of Niagara for the loan of large recycling containers and the Town of Lincoln for the use of the Lincoln Centre where the donated food products are weighed, sorted, boxed, and then moved to safe storage at the Community Care site.
The membership of the Beamsville & District Lions Club wish to thank everyone who assisted in any way with this most important community event.
