Port Colborne's community centre meeting will not be a circus.
Coun. Bill Steele took the opportunity at Monday’s council meeting to remind residents that disruptive comments will not be tolerated during Wednesday night's meeting.
He said that speakers will be limited to five minutes.
Steele said he has received some “disturbing phone calls” recently and he wanted to make it clear how the meeting will operate.
“It’s not a free-for-all,” he said. “Disruptive comments and behaviour are not welcome.”
The public portion of the regularly scheduled community centre advisory committee meeting will be open to comments; no registration is necessary.
The new community centre, now called the multi-use centre, is expected to cost anywhere from $25 million to $40 million depending on the included ammenities. Council has earmarked $3.9 million for the project.
Surveys will be circulated at the meeting asking for feedback on what the residents would like to see in the community centre.
The meeting takes place Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at city hall.
