IceDogs pick up goalie in import draft

The Niagara IceDogs picked up a goaltender in the Canadian Hockey League Import draft last week.
The IceDogs selected German goaltender Maximilian Engelbrecht with the 43rd selection in the CHL Import Draft. The 6'2", 192-pound goaltender is the highest rated draft eligible German goaltender according to NHL Central Scouting. Engelbrecht, who spent last season with German junior team Landshut, has also been invited to the German Under-20 camp for a chance to make the German Under-20 junior national team which will be a part of the IIHF World Junior Championship in Ottawa.
PETRO INVITED TO JUNIOR CAMP
IceDogs defenceman Alex Pietranglo has been invited to Hockey Canada's national junior team development camp. The development camp will take place in Ottawa from July 25-29 and is the first step in the selection process for the Canadian National Junior Team, which will have its final selection in December. The fourth overall pick in last weekend's NHL Entry Draft represented Canada last season as a member of Canada's National men's summer Under-18 team which finished fourth at the 2007 Memorial of Ivan Hlinka Tournament and will be joined in the camp by eight other members of that team including the No. 1 pick in the 2008 NHL Draft, Steven Stamkos.
AGOZZINO SEEKS SPOT ON UNDER-18 CLUB
Niagara IceDogs forward Andrew Agozzino of the Niagara IceDogs has been invited to Team Canada's U-18 August Selection Camp.
The 17 year old Vaughn native had a solid rookie campaign for the 'Dogs playing in 50 games, tallying 12 goals and 10 assists.
Agozzino is one of 40 players invited to the camp which will take place in Calgary from August 1-6. The camp will be used to finalize the selection of the roster of 22 players who will represent Canada at the 2008 Memorial of Ivan Hlinka tournament, scheduled for August 12-16 in Piestany, Slovakia and Breclav, Czech Republic.
