Sandy Muzyka decided to do something a little differently when she was invited to a money-only bridal shower.
Instead of giving the money in a card, the former florist employee started arranging and folding the money until she could create something with it.
What came out of the hours of playing with the money were flower arrangements made from cash.
"I never thought of the idea until I was invited to a bridal-money shower," Muzyka said, whose sister has jumped on board, creating rosebuds and daisies.
Muzyka makes the clematis, rose, and carnations, designs the arrangements using her ground-up training from the florist and crafts butterflies, too.
After she designed it the first time her husband told her it was a work of art, and her sister told her it was a good idea.
Ever since then the pair has teamed up to make money bouquets for weddings, bridal and baby showers, birthdays, baptisms or any occasion to substitute for the old money-in-a-card.
The money is shaped and bent to resemble real roses or daisies, but the money isn't cut or defaced and de-assembly instructions are provided so the money can be used.
"Flowers are so expensive and you throw them out in a week," Muzyka said. She added one lady even gave them as a gift for a funeral.
The sisters are artists by nature, and Muzyka includes a hand written poem with each arrangement, so you don't have to buy a card, she said.
Now, she said, "Every time I get change I ask what can I do with this."
And similarly when she sees flowers she asks herself how she can duplicate it.
