Lincoln Park Retirement Community and six local restaurants are teaming up to Cook for The Cure.
On Thursday, Oct. 9, Lincoln Park will hold its inaugural KitchenAid Cook for the Cure fundraiser, in support of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. The event, which will feature samplings of cuisine from the participating restaurants, will run from 6-9 p.m. at Lincoln Park, 265 Main St. E. in Grimsby.
"It's important to give back and that's something our community here likes to do," said Dorothy Tucker, lifestyle coordinator and community relations director for Lincoln Park.
Guests will make a minimum $10 donation to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation for admission. They will then receive ballots and judge a signature dish created by each of the participating restaurants - August Restaurant in Beamsville, Edgewater Manor Restaurant in Stoney Creek, Lakehouse Restaurant in Vineland, Lincoln Park Retirement Community in Grimsby, The VIEW Restaurant at EastDell Estates Winery in Beamsville and 13 Mountain Street in Grimsby. Ratings will be compiled and a winning restaurant will be declared.
There will also be wine tastings by EastDell Estates Winery and a variety of prizes, including KitchenAid appliances, gift cars and more, will be available to be won.
"All of the money raised will go directly to the Canadian Breast Cancer Association," said Tucker, adding "all of the chefs are more than thrilled to be a part of this event". They have donated their services, as well as the food they will be serving, she said.
The cause, said Tucker, "touches nearly everybody".
"This is a great way to have fun, enjoy some great cuisine and support an important cause," she said.
