Brock baseball Badgers capture first
Sports
Oct 10, 2008
The Brock University baseball team (14-4) ended the Ontario University Athletics regular season with a 4-2 victory at home over the Laurier Golden Hawks, capturing first place overall.

Head Coach Jeff Lounsbury also became the first coach in OUA baseball history to capture 100 career conference victories.

Brock trailed 2-0 going into the sixth inning of that final game. In the bottom of the sixth, Tim Sogan drove in Justin Parro and Adam Cholewka with a two-run triple tying the game 2-2.

In the bottom of the eighth, it was Sogan continuing to provide most of the Badgers offence as he drove in the game winning run with an RBI double. Mike Walker also had an RBI on a sacrifice fly. On the hill, starter Jordan Prosper went six innings, allowing two runs on seven hits while striking out six in a no decision. Matt Martinow looked sharp in the final three innings not allowing a hit while recording two strikeouts for the victory.

Brock will open the 2008 OUA playoffs tonight at 7 p.m. in Community Park. Their opponent is still to be decided.
